Soroptimists – a Global Voice for Women
Soroptimist International is a volunteer organisation for women who, through a global network of members and international partnerships, work at local, national and international levels to educate, empower and enable opportunities for women and girls.
The United Kingdom Programme Action Committee (UKPAC) provides help and guidance to Soroptimist clubs in the UK in devising, planning and carrying out their project work (known as Programme Action). Representatives from all 17 Regions, as far apart as Scotland North Region and South West and Channel Islands Region, serve on the Committee.
Soroptimist International is the world's largest women's service organisation and through our Consultative Status at the United Nations, we strive for equality, peace and international understanding. We have clubs from Argentina to Zimbabwe.
We are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities worldwide.
Soroptimists are women who use the special expertise and management skills developed in their working life to advance the status of women and to try to make the world a better place. Membership offers the opportunity to work with like-minded women throughout the world for human rights for all, equality, development and peace.
